Last night my good friend Stan stayed at out house, he left for Germany this morning, he’s doing a photographic job there for the next 6 weeks. Lucky bum! Anyway I haven’t seen him in ages and it was nice to spend some time with him. You know those friends who will always be friends no matter how much time passes? It’s never awkward just always the same? Well that’s Stan. Love you my friend.

Before we went to bed we watched Friday the 13th PART 12. Hahaha I cannot believe that they have made 12 of these ridonculous movies and I really really can’t believe that we stayed up till 1 watching it. We laughed a lot though, we were fascinated by how quickly Jason gets from one place to another. We decided that he must have little scooters hidden all over the place that his giant face jumps on and rides the bejezzers out of to the exact spot the screaming teenage is heading towards. Now picture him on a pale pink scooter zooting through the forest singing Mariah Carey songs out loud. Not so scary now, are you Jason?

This was my mom’s Brownie camera from when she was a wee young thing. Here are some photos that she took with it when she went overseas with my gran and grandad (couple above). They got a bit destroyed, cause the album they were in got wet in storage, but I think they are awesome pictures non the less. Apparently I can still get film for this little guy, (it still works, by the way). Imagine how cool the photos will be – it’ll be like us, but 1974 us.
Speaking of film, my friend Thenuis (pictured below) bought this for me last night. Some old school polaroid magic. Ooohhhweee. I’m going to need some seriously good times to come in order for me to whip this box out. Apparently he’s found a shop that has quite a lot of it in stock, but he’s keeping it’s whereabouts a secret. Haha I think I would do the same. If anyone wants to buy some, he can get it for R200 a box – just drop me a mail and I’ll pass on the message x x

these are some of my most favourite deer things – the first one is a wooden oval plaque with elk painted on it, i picked it up at the biscuit mill in cape town for 75 rond. i haven’t been to this market in forever, but next time i go i hope i find something as special. the brass deer belonged to my granny. they are super old and a bit funny looking, but i love them non the less. and the last thing is a polaroid of my dear friend gina king, who i miss a lot. she’s posing with my pet Simon. he guards our front door with his handsome brute face.

today is friawesomeday. first of all i got this awesome mail from anastasia in dubai.

then i got a brand new laptop. it’s so shiny and mysterious. i’m like a school kid who got a double peanut butter barone sandwich for lunch. as if someone’s mom would do that. i’m going to. my kid is going to be the fattest happiest dancer in the whole world.

say hello to my newest bambi. he came all the way from argentina with my awesome friend leigh. he’s beautiful.

also went past the shop this morning. the floor is nearly done and the walls are getting painted soon. one word- AWESOME. yes.

i also made this little pouch this morning…hmmm… maybe i’ll keep my berries in it.

and last but not least. say hello to my new friend amy. shane and i had her and her husband over for supper last night. they are very cool and look how nicely she matches my (jo’s) cushions hee.
hope you are all having an awesome flipping friday x x

shane and i were in rustenburg for the weekend to visit shane’s folks. i took ‘flash’ with me, my new camera and we went for a drive around the town, to magaliesburg and back. i only bought one thing, this tiny horse (he’s like the size of a matchbox), but he’s super awesome and i took a bunch of photos. it was a good weekend. i heart my new camera.

i like this picture the most. shane’s dad says this giant fiberglass springbok has been there for years and years. you should see this thing in real life. wow.

on saturday i flew with desmond and the tutus to cape town where they were playing at the Rocking The Daisies Festival. the show was awesome and so was the venue. wow. it was so beautiful, there was green grass and mountains and colourful flags. it made oppie look like hilbrow on a saturday afternoon just before the sweetie man comes to visit. what? i don’t know. all i’m saying is it was super cool and my boys played a damn good show.
this was on saturday night, we also spent the whole of sunday in cape town. we went to the milnerton market in the morning, where i found 2 amazing things, but i must say i do remember milnerton being a lot radder. now there just seems to be a lot more really tanned awkward looking people selling toilet seats and their kid’s ‘happy meal’ toys, it’s quite something, but i got this locket and lucia ware bowl for R50 each, so i’m happy-happy.

this bird locket has L&C stamp on the back and then 3 other little symbols in a row, i can make one out properly, it’s an anchor, can’t really see the others. well anyway, i tried too look these markings up and i came across this ladies site. her stuff is amazing, loads of vintage finds. go have a look and try not to cry in your pants. i found similar bird lockets on her site with the same markings. it looks like it comes from the Victorian era. if anyone can help me with any more information i would really really appreciate it.

and here is my new lucia ware bowl. oooh so so pretty and bright. nice.

i took these 2 polaroids of my block of flats. the battery in the film pack was obviously dying, so both pictures stuttered when they came out. i quite like them.
