Afternoon shop

June 28th, 2010

On Saturday my mom-in-law and sister-in-law took turns taking me around to some antique stores. We went to 1 in Rusties and 2 in Pretoria and I found some cool bits and pieces. Yay me! I bought this super cool blue clamp lamp. I have been looking for one of these for quite a while now and bingo I found one.

I also bought this antique chain mirror, it was only R100 cause it’s broken, but I still bought it cause I thought it was pretty. Then the last thing I got was this Instamatic camera. It still works, but I don’t think I can get film for it, It’s now part of my old camera collection which is getting on quite nicely these days. Yes. The pictures below are of a few other things I would of liked to have bought, but some weren’t priced yet (the Tretchikoff) and some were too expensive and completely unpractical (the awesome old school stove), but I thought I would take photos of them anyway. The cat in the last block belongs to my friends Nic and Megan. He is completely hairless and super loving, but super strange looking. Shame, I tried for a 10 whole minutes to change my mind about him, but I just couldn’t….sorry Odus (his name) I don’t think i could share my cuddle face with you.

*For anyone who is interested I got this stuff in Pretoria from an antique shop on the corner of Stead and Soutpansburg street  x x not sure what the address for the Rustenburg one is….sorry guys.

found these beautiful illustrations drawn by a girl called christine berrie, she sells them in her etsy store. go have a look, you will be so sad that you can’t draw like a genius drawer with genius drawer hands, but you will be happy that you can buy them with your “invisible money” card.

look into my magic box.

these are 2 of my very good friends karen and scarface.

* i must say i am loving my new instant camera. it makes me happy that there is no going to a kodak shop to get them developed by some weird long haired guy who really wants to be a professional latin ballroom dancer. you take the picture. you count to 15 and then there it is, like magic.
