i just got back from 6 days in the eatsern cape. shane’s family has a small cottage in riet river, round the corner for a beach that has no one on it, but you and your stripy umbrella. i bought some stuff from a few antique stores in port alfred and i read a lot and ate a lot and napped and had an all round specialnice time with the durrants. the cottage we stayed in has been there for many many years. shane’s mom has been going there ever since she was a toddler. it has such character, there is like  30 things in there i wish i could have packed into my suitcase and bought home. it has such an old school feeling, that just makes you want to laze out on the stoop and eat honey and butter sandwiches all day – which is pretty much what i did. good times. more posts on riet river to follow……..x
