happy friday stomach x
last night we had a work party – it was our 15th birthday and the theme was come dressed as your most favourite band member/artist. jo and i decided to come as milli vanilli. obviously. so we went and bought the darkest foundation we could find and extra-extreme-ultra hold gel. our plan was to dreadlock our hair and then paint our faces brown, but leave our hands, neck etc white. we tried and we failed even more dismally than the original milli vanilli. we panicked and then decided, after being TWO HOURS late for the party, that we would go as paula abdul back-up dancers. obviously. i have included a shot of jo and i on tour with paula in 1991. it’s a classic. hope you enjoy it.
*polaroid is of us before we left my flat. man, we could of totally rocked it in the 80’s.
shane and the boys decorated this round drumming thingie-ma-bobbie for a show they did a couple of years ago. shane has kept it all this time, hoping to get it framed, but has never got around to it. i stole it the other day and had it box framed for his birthday. the framer did such a cool job. i was very happy with it and shane was super happy with it. success. Yes!
so i was saying a few posts back that we were going to cover one of our walls at home with paintings and pictures we’ve been collecting over time. well, we hammered most of them in the other day and tananananananan! shane and i are proud like peacocks my polony. hehe.
the first picture on the left i bought from a pretoria antique store that shane & i just stumbled across one saturday afternoon. they were having a 40% sale, so i landed up paying about R100 for lassie’s babies and their mini boy wonder. i was super chuffed. we aslo had scones and cream in the shop’s tea garden, which made the day even more awesome. the second picture i got from dear kezia’s shop, Deer Hunter. i also didn’t pay much for it because her shop is awesome that way.
now they both hang in our Tv room, next to each other, like long lost brothers in the night and day and afternoon.
today i went to town with shane, doug, cath and will. we walked around looking like real tourists. we went in into a few shops where i found this awesome plastic tablecloth, i also got an old faded 36 piece kids puzzle of some deer in a forrest, which i want to frame. it’s so rad how the sun has faded it, but under where the “36 piece puzzle” sticker used to be it’s still it’s original colour. i also got a ‘ID photo taking lady’ to take a picture of shane and i. she didn’t really understand why i wanted both of us in my ID picture, but eventually she got it hee. then we all went for lunch and sat in the sun and then i bought a mini chocolate cake with ganache icing (holy moley wow) from la patisserie in Illovo, which i’m busy getting stuck into right now. the end. shoo
my friend jelena sent me this link. i watched the video and it made me tear up more than once. yes i’m a whiss.
