Greg has an application called fatbooth on his i-Phone that basically takes a picture of you and then turns you into a fat bastard. What do you think? Hahaha.
Now I have a face to match my pig on a horse body. Hehe.

Last night my good friend Stan stayed at out house, he left for Germany this morning, he’s doing a photographic job there for the next 6 weeks. Lucky bum! Anyway I haven’t seen him in ages and it was nice to spend some time with him. You know those friends who will always be friends no matter how much time passes? It’s never awkward just always the same? Well that’s Stan. Love you my friend.
Before we went to bed we watched Friday the 13th PART 12. Hahaha I cannot believe that they have made 12 of these ridonculous movies and I really really can’t believe that we stayed up till 1 watching it. We laughed a lot though, we were fascinated by how quickly Jason gets from one place to another. We decided that he must have little scooters hidden all over the place that his giant face jumps on and rides the bejezzers out of to the exact spot the screaming teenage is heading towards. Now picture him on a pale pink scooter zooting through the forest singing Mariah Carey songs out loud. Not so scary now, are you Jason?
My friend Marc Shoul who is a brilliant photographer, has just completed a photo documentary on the JHB CBD called Flatlands. I have included some of my favourites in this post, you can check out the rest of his amazing pictures here. You will also be able to hear about his experiences within the city and some background information on some of the photos. I have watched this video 4 times now, I think his photos are so detailed and simple at the same time and I definitely think you should have a look. I would love to go on a photo-taking trip with him. Marc you keen?
This man’s dog was one of the biggest boerboels I have ever seen. She was totally docile, I was a bit scared when I first saw her, but she didn’t take any notice of us, just walked straight past. This was the first person we met in Cullinan, this man runs a small car garage. He has a black Cadillac for sale. It’s completely covered in dust and he hasn’t seen the owner for over 3 years. I asked how much it was, he said the guys wants R500 000 for it, but he says it isn’t even worth R30 000. What a strange little character. So if anyone has R500 000 they want to waste and a good dust cloth, get over to this guy’s shop.
My friend sent me this Flickr link this morning. These are holiday pictures that were taken in Hawaii in 1959. Too too nice. Now all I need is a plane ticket back to 1959, a floral one-piece and the Dirty Dancing soundtrack playing on a walkman.
This was my mom’s Brownie camera from when she was a wee young thing. Here are some photos that she took with it when she went overseas with my gran and grandad (couple above). They got a bit destroyed, cause the album they were in got wet in storage, but I think they are awesome pictures non the less. Apparently I can still get film for this little guy, (it still works, by the way). Imagine how cool the photos will be – it’ll be like us, but 1974 us.
Speaking of film, my friend Thenuis (pictured below) bought this for me last night. Some old school polaroid magic. Ooohhhweee. I’m going to need some seriously good times to come in order for me to whip this box out. Apparently he’s found a shop that has quite a lot of it in stock, but he’s keeping it’s whereabouts a secret. Haha I think I would do the same. If anyone wants to buy some, he can get it for R200 a box – just drop me a mail and I’ll pass on the message x x
Sorry about the no post on Friday, I was in Rustenburg. We watched the Japan vs Denmark game on Thursday night and then we spent a few days in town with Shane’s parents. We had such a nice few days relaxing and watching soccer. I can’t believe I’m so into it. We even went to a fan park yesterday to watch Germany kick England’s lily white butts. Hahaha. Soccer Forever.
My Shane came back from the overseas yesterday. He has been gone for ten days, so I’m happy to have him back. He went over there with Desmond and the Tutus to play a few gigs in Paris and Sweden and so got to see Paris for the first time. I love that place so much, it does this weird thing to you that makes you want to stay there forever, I’m glad it didn’t make Shane stay ha! He bought me some pretty pretty presents back, which I’m super stoked about. We had a bit of a quick photo shoot last night so I could show you all what I got, but I was having an ugly day (I hate those) hence the paper bag.
Look at my ‘The Drums’ handbag! Shane got to watch them live in Paris, man I was so jealous. Do you guys know The Drums? They are an amazing amazing band – I’m going to do a review on them super soon. And I got a huge bottle of Gucci Rush, my most favourite purfume in the whole world and some awesome H&M top love and 2 rad tops (pictured below) from Monki – awesome Swedish clothing label, check them out. So I got spoilt and Shane got smooched hee.
This is my mom on her 21st birthday (the one on the right). How beautiful is she? I love looking at old pictures of my parents. I wonder what my kids are going to think of half the pictures i have of me and all the people in my life. I hope I have kids who love stuff like this as much as i do, or else some second hand junk store is going to flipping score. Anyway…the first photo is of my mom with her cousin, the 2nd is a picture of her cutting her cake and the 3rd picture is of my dad on the dance floor at her party. Haha look at him trying to get the dance floor going. That’s my dad.
This is a bracelet my mom got as a present on her birthday, she passed it down to me a few years ago. It’s so pretty and still in such good condition. Thanks mom.
